Pirate Jenny

Cultural food for thought/extraordinary musical piece that has made me particularly happy today.
Mega thanks to my dear fiancée Marcela for tipping over the initial domino this morning by suggesting giving Norah Jones' "Chasing Pirates" a spin that triggered the domino effect that led me to remember the fantastic, chilling 1964 performance by Nina Simone of 'Pirate Jenny' from "The Threepenny Opera".

And let's face it, I do love how Nina Simone used her performance as a dramatic backdrop for her claims for social justice and citizenship at that time.

Additional fun fact:
It also made me happy to fondly remember the time we saw Amanda Palmer perform a cover of this at the Dresden Dolls show at the Granada Theater back in late 2010.

A fine mingling of letting go and holding on.

As people, I'm convinced we can calm a great deal of our internal storms by learning to let go of the things that no longer serve us while holding on to our authentic self. [The realization and application.]

In fact, it's one of my favorite peaceful "...whoa..." moments in life. It's the moment you realize you've learned this and how it's manifested itself in your life, is in my mind, one of life's greatest rewards.

I say realize, because we are all wondrously different and we all have our own perception, approach to and sense of time and digestion of, well, everything.

Don't forget that.

But the moment you realize you've learned something like this, is just simply beautifully centering and peaceful.

What will you do with your whoa moment?

This post brought to you by my psychology minded mind and another realization:

That one of my sources of true happiness stems from sharing things like this with anyone that cares to graze these words.

Make it a grand day! Yes, it's that simple.
